Powerglide 535

To
meet the ever increasing demand from sea anglers, Rod
Baker has re-started the production of the famous
Offshore 535 Deep V
sea angling boat.
We have re-named this boat the
Powerglide 535
to be more in keeping with our new line of soft riding deep "V" hull craft. This boat has all the traditional qualities that Rod has always insisted would be in his boats.
The 535 is 5.35 meter in length or 17ft 6 inches and has an overall beam of 7 ft 6 inches. As you see, it is a Deep V mono hull with exceptional heavy weather qualities for its size. Any experienced angler will see at first glance that this boat is not a toy, but a purpose built, mean fishing machine, with “long distance” written all over.
The 535 will plane with a single 40 hp outboard, if super-economy or longest range are important. Minimum planning speed lies around 12 knots. The wide transom however, allows for a variety of power options. Single engines up to 100 hp and twins up to 60 hp each will deliver Formula One acceleration and a top speed of 40 knots plus with suitable propellers.
The design of the boat originates from Holland, but it is no coincidence that we are now building the boat. Its Dutch success story of twenty years is almost as long as our own. Hundreds of these boats have been in used by anglers on the treacherous coastal water of Holland and Belgium, with sandbanks and breaking waves everywhere.
An enterprising Dutch journalist under took the first ever crossing by a true angling “dinghy” in this 535 in 1982. With a single 70 hp outboard he made the 120 nautical mile crossing from Zierikzee to Sandwich on the Kent coast in a stiff north westerly breeze, force 5. After a days fishing with his British friends, on the Goodwin Sands, he steered his 535 the very long way back to Holland, unperturbed and trouble free. This tells all about the pedigree and the performance that this little
Powerglide 535 is offering to dedicated sea anglers.
