The Blade Project

The Blade Project is a newly designed craft which will use variable moulding  technology. Although it is a newly designed Catamaran, the technology has already been well tried and tested with our existing 14m Cat, 'Vanishing Point' being used as a test bed. The were so astounding that this new Catamaran is based on the same hull concept, but scaled up to produce even bigger and better results.

The Blade has many advantages for the wind farm operator. You can purchase a super efficient crew boat that is so strongly built using woven rovings throughout that it is almost indestructible. You can rest assured that the hull will last for 40 years. Far in excess of any aluminium craft.

You have a  choice of sizes within certain limits and are not limited to the problem of only having one sized mould. Generally 17m to 20m in length and a beam of 6m to 9m. So a range that could suit most operators.

We will be able to deliver these hulls by road for re-assembly at the boat yard of your choice. Your builder will have an almost instant boat ready to fit out. The builder can prefabricate a wheelhouse module from Aluminium or GRP and drop this straight onto the deck.

Our existing Powerglide 46, 14 m Crew boat is saving around 3000 lts of fuel each day, when compared to an aluminium Catamaran and this  Blade 20 will also give huge savings. The cost of the whole boat will be saved within a few years with these fuel savings. The Blade will only require low horsepower to give this craft a 26 knot speed, but is well capable of more with bigger engines.

The Cat will easily be powered against the tower and will not suffer the wild rise and fall that the planing catamarans give. The super slim bow will ensure this.

This High Performance Displacement Catamaran  (HPDC) will give the same stunning performance out at sea as our Powerglide 46, but this time scaled up to enable the operators to work in sea conditions that have never been mastered before.  Completely smooth and slam free ride and easy drop off for technicians in seas of over 3.0m (the 14m Cat has done this already but it is the limit)

The styling is sleek and simple,  put together with 36 years of boat building experience. Your boat should never break down. Because we have resisted the temptation of making everything so very much more complicated than need be our build and engineering is strong, simple and very long lasting.

It has taken some time to finalise this design and we are ready to go with this project. It is also an opportunity for us to look for partner/investor to take the company to the next level.

We are absolutely confident that this craft will not need the assistance on any high tech bow transfer devices or platforms to do the job properly, it has been well proven on the Powerglide 46, which regularly outperforms all others when it comes to crew transfer.
